The Bouvier des Ardennes is a rugged, highly resilient herding and droving dog from Belgium. Recognized by their harsh, wiry coat and intense, focused expression, they are exceptionally athletic and were bred to drive cattle and pigs over brutal, unforgiving terrain.
The Bouvier des Ardennes is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply loyal to their handler, brilliantly smart, and intensely driven. They absolutely must have a job to do, such as herding, agility, or advanced obedience; without it, they become highly destructive. Their harsh coat requires regular brushing to prevent matting from field debris.
