The Appenzeller Sennenhund is a highly athletic, intensely energetic, and brilliantly smart herding dog from the Swiss Alps. They are the most agile of the Swiss Mountain Dogs, possessing a striking short, tricolor coat and a distinctive tail curled tightly over their back.
The Appenzeller is an intense working dog. They possess boundless stamina, are highly alert, and make excellent, vocal watchdogs. They are deeply devoted to their families but naturally suspicious of strangers. They absolutely require vigorous daily running and advanced mental stimulation to prevent destructive boredom. Their short coat is very easy to groom.
