The Bouvier des Flandres is a massive, incredibly powerful herding and droving dog from Belgium. Possessing a harsh, wiry, profuse coat and an imposing, heavily muscled frame, they were bred to drive cattle, pull carts, and serve as fearless farm guardians.
The Bouvier is deeply devoted, highly protective, and famously calm indoors. However, they are highly dominant and require an incredibly firm, experienced owner. They possess boundless energy and absolutely require vigorous daily exercise. Their harsh, shaggy coat does not shed much but requires intense, regular brushing and professional trimming to prevent severe matting.
