The Parson Russell Terrier is a highly energetic, exceptionally rugged, and brilliantly smart working terrier. Taller and longer-legged than the Jack Russell, they possess a harsh, wiry or smooth coat and were bred to hunt foxes, keeping pace with horses over brutal terrain.
The Parson Russell is the quintessential terrier: fiercely courageous, highly alert, and notoriously stubborn. They are deeply devoted to their families but possess absolutely boundless energy and require vigorous daily exercise; without it, they become highly destructive. Their coat requires regular brushing and occasional hand-stripping.
