The English Toy Terrier is a sleek, incredibly elegant toy breed that looks like a miniature Doberman Pinscher. Originally bred in Victorian England to hunt rats in enclosed pits, they are remarkably fast, fiercely courageous, and highly alert, possessing a distinctive, rich black and tan coat.
Despite their small size, they have the heart of a working terrier. They are highly intelligent, intensely loyal to their families, and make exceptional, highly vocal watchdogs. They can be naturally aloof with strangers, so early socialization is critical. Their short, sleek coat is incredibly easy to care for, but they get cold very easily and require winter sweaters.
