The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is the smallest and fastest of the four Swiss Mountain Dogs. Originally bred to herd cattle in the rugged Alps, they are highly robust, intensely energetic, and possess a beautiful, short, tricolor coat. They are incredibly powerful for their medium size.
The Entlebucher is fiercely loyal, brilliantly smart, and highly eager to please. However, they possess a massive herding instinct and will actively try to herd children or other pets by nipping at their heels. They require vigorous daily exercise and firm, consistent leadership. Their short coat sheds moderately year-round but is very easy to maintain.
