The Braque Français (Gascogne Type) is a massive, heavily built, and incredibly powerful pointing dog. Known for their robust frame and striking brown-roan coat, they are highly resilient hunters capable of working in the most brutal, unforgiving terrain of southern France.
Despite their imposing size, the Gascogne Pointer is exceptionally gentle, deeply loyal, and highly sensitive to their handler’s mood. They are very eager to please and highly trainable using positive reinforcement. They require an incredibly active owner who can provide massive amounts of daily running. Their short coat is very easy to care for.
