The Segugio Italiano a Pelo Forte is a highly rugged, intensely resilient scenthound from Italy. Possessing a harsh, wiry coat designed to protect them from brutal, thorny brush, they are fiercely courageous, highly determined, and possess a remarkable, deep baying voice.
This breed is an intense, fiercely independent hunter. Indoors, they are calm, deeply affectionate, and highly loyal to their families. However, outdoors, their nose dictates their actions completely. They cannot be trusted off-leash and require an incredibly active owner who can provide massive amounts of daily running. Their harsh coat requires regular brushing and hand-stripping.
