The Bloodhound possesses the most powerful sense of smell of any dog breed. They are incredibly docile and affectionate but famously stubborn during training.

• Scent Distractions: You are competing with their nose. If they catch a scent, they will ignore you completely. Use incredibly high-value rewards to maintain focus.
• Leash Safety: Because they will blindly follow a trail into traffic, they must always be kept on a leash or in a secure yard.
• Patience is Crucial: They mature slowly and can be highly independent. Keep training sessions very short, positive, and frustration-free.
