The Perro de Agua Español is a highly versatile, brilliantly smart, and intensely energetic working dog. Recognizable by their distinctive, tightly corded or curly wooly coat, they were bred in Spain to herd sheep, retrieve waterfowl, and act as all-purpose farm dogs.
The Spanish Water Dog is famously joyful, highly playful, and deeply devoted to its family. They possess boundless stamina and absolutely require vigorous daily exercise and a job to do. Their unique, curly coat does not shed but requires specialized care: it must never be brushed, only sheared evenly to prevent matting.
